so ive got my frame all stripped down, i need to know what all i need to measure and write down before i start cutting, what should i use for reference points to get everything right? i already got the distance diagonally and front to back and side to side for the cab mounts, and how tall they are now from the ground...i also need to know how much i need to lower those cab mounts to lay rocker on a 91 ranger. i would measure from the bottom side of the cab to the ground as it sits there but the cab is no longer at my house...hopefully one of you ranger gurus knows...all your guys input is appreciated

Build a jig out of some flat stock or small square tubing. get you some thread all, and some long nuts. Run the thread all through the body mounts on the frame, and weld the long nuts to the flat stock. then you can mark or weld a nut to the top of the thread all were it emerges from the body mount. You now can measure down the thread all however you much you are dropping your body mounts. Since you have decided to go against EVERYONES(mine and James ) advice and not using a Toyota front clip, weld the jig to the front clip. Measuring locations of body mounts is for suckers, build a jig and save the trouble.   Does your truck lay out now? If yes, you can do this with the truck laid out, building the jig around the frame, if not, then you can build it on the floor, measure the distance from the frame to the ground, and then add the amount that want to BD the truck and drop the cab mounts that amount.   If you decide to go the yota front clip, we measured the distance from the front hub to the front body mount, then located the jig in relation to that figure and ran the rails.   I'm sure that I left something out here or there, but it is pretty straight forward, I'll be glad to clear any thing up that I was not clear on.

i think i understand what you are saying but just to clarify  can you email me some pictures of different jig setups. thanks for the help my email is teamsabotage62@yahoo.com

I wont email it them to you, I'd rather post them for everyone to see.         --------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Russ-D I built a jig that had pins up through the centers of every bodymount and cut flush with the tops of the bodymount. By making the jig as wide as the original frame and welding the front clip to it, it was a snap to make new rails and make the bodymounts exactly centered and exactly 2.5 inches lower than the stock ones. No one believed it would work without a ton of critical measuring but I tell you now, the ONLY things I had to measure were: the width of the original frame, the 2.5 inches down the pins, and the rear axle position (I used a non adjustable 4 link) The cab plopped back down and you could see through all 4 cab mounts. Work smarter, not harder. ---------------------------------------------   That is how Russ D explained it. The 2.5" he mentions is for a mazda, so DO NOT use that as a measurement.

Not much progress got done after this, owner of the truck disappeared.         I still have all of this, I may build it for a guy in our club one day.
