IM INTEREDTED IN A 20'INCH 8.5 WITH 38DEGREE OFFSET RIM AND TIRE COMBO (225/35/20). IM CURIOUS ON BACKSPACING FOR A 98+ SFBD RANGER. IVE HEARD MANY DIFFERENT THEORIES, ANYONE CARE TO SHARE?

Here is a link to the write up Minitruckin did.  I found a 18x8 with a 14 mm offset for my ranger, but can't get anyone to confirm if it will fit.  Based on this chart I would have to have a 1/2 inch spacer, but noone verifies so i don't know if this is right.     Backspacing

with the 7.5 axle you should be fine with a 38 offset I knwo that on mine I had a buddy of mines 20s on and they were a 38 offset and they just touched but thats with a 8.8 axle which is wider than the 7.5 I know a 45 will clear with no problems

I have a sfbd 99 mazda running 20x8.5 with 38 mm offset. Fenders and bedsides are different on the mazdas and the rear tires rub the bed and the front tires clip the fenders during lift even with the inside lip cut off the fenders.
