SLR cameras. which is better nikon or cannon?

im gonna buy a slr soon and need some opinions on the Nikon D60 and the Cannon EOS. they are both about the same price and basic features right? looking for something around $500 and 10 megapixel with lens options

I have used Canons for the last 30+ years. The fastest AF on the market. My EOS3 film body was great,have a EOS350D wanted another body but after talking with a Canon rep. went with this. The Canon lens are very ,very sharp!

I just got a D40 package deal @ the Camera Shop for $500. It came with 2 lenses>18-55 and 55-200, bag, instructional videos and like 10 free lessons.  I love it. Well I bought it for my girl but I use it all of the time.

i think i got talked into the canon eos. should be buying it in about 2 weeks.
