Anyone know the dimensional difference? As far as width and length. I am trying to get an idea of how much I will have to cut out of my tranny tunnel to fit the turbo 350 in it after the 3 inch stock floor. Truck had a 700r4, but going to run a TH350.

My th350 in my basement is 28 X 13"  28" from the top of the bellhousing to the end of the tailshaft (not to the end of the spline shaft.) Its about 13" wide give or take a bit in the middle including the pan.       The length i believe is gonna be the same on all the small block chevy transmissions. I asked a mechanic i know and he said switching from one to another is the same length wise he said maybe get a drill out to make the holes on the tranny mount line up exactly. Can anyone validate this?    Can any of you chevy guys answering blitch's question let me know the differences between a TH350 and a muncie 4 speed? I wanna use my TH350 if possible to mach up a trans mount and crossmember while im lookin for a muncie to buy and i wanna know if this is a good idea or not.

i know a short tail 350 is 3 inches shorter than a 700 cause i just changed one out. short tail is 28 like 92zu said a 700 is 31 inches. i not sure about a long tail 350 though. but i pretty sure the case on the 350 will be either the same size or smaller in diameter.

i took the turbo 350 outa my pup and put in the 700r and used the same mount and driveshaft. ovarall they are the same dimensions. but the  rubber mount was like an inch or two off. i just redrilled the mount
