Anyone know of a good trick to remove the factory coating on the frame? Heat is ok but messy and everything else (wire wheel, grinder, sander) smear it. Sigh....what a fucking mess and all it does is collect road grime.

you can try everything listed but it wont work with little effort. you will go through 20 gallons of laquer thinner and still wont have most of it off. air craft stripper doesnt work. wd 40 works cuz it breaks down the oils but youll need a bunch of it. the stuff on the frame is a tar and kasmolene mix. the best and only thing that i use and you can strip an entire frame in an hour or two is a stream pressure washer. then coat it with a light coating of wd40 till your ready to work on it. if your going to paint or powdercoat it dont coat it
