A friend mentioned that I should paint my car flat black. I am entertaining the idea and what exactly does it take. I've heard that its not just a flat clear, but a satin paint and clear combo. How hard is it to spray compaired to lets say a pearl paint job? Also what would be an approx cost on materials for something like that? Also how forgiving is it to imperfections in the body? My car is plastic (saturn) and its probobly a bit harder to fix those chips then if it were a metal car.

there is a paint line called Hot Rod flatz it is the best way to get the flat look... if you want to roll flat for only a bit i would say just take gray primer throw some black in it and rock that

NOW THAT THE FLAT BLACK CRAZE IS ON EVERYONE HAS PAINTS AND CLEARS BUT THE OG WAY IS TINTING YOUR PRIMER

Hi, any paint store that knows what there doing can make any single stage paint flatt, or semi gloss or anywhere in between. Its just a additive that makes it flatt. You can use flatt clear for the same effect but its just another step and more money. Primer looks good for a little while but I hear it soaks up water and grease.(I dont know that to be a fact tho). good luck

Go to your local York Fork lift repair shop. They have black and gold, single stage and it is super cheap.

i just painted my f250 flat black. i got the paint off ebay but its eastwood body supply brand. i didnt have any body work so i hit the truck with a DA with 400g paper. the spots where i had to sand by hand i used 600.   then i cleaned the truck with silicone and wax remover then hit it with a tack cloth. i sprayed 2 heavy coats then the last coat i poured about 10% of reducer in the mixture to help the last coat flatten out and get rid of any orange peel. it turned out awesome and it only cost me 100 dollars for a gallon of paint

Go to the local John Deere dealer and get their Blitz black. It's super durable and easy to spray!
