Ok I have a few questions. I'm looking to tub my firewall and run 20's, five lug conversion and all that jazz.  But the thing I was wondering is  I have a 32/36 weber carb for my 2.3, do i actually still need my ECU or do i have to relocate that some where?

I know on my 93 the ECU actually controls the distributor. Basically it senses when to advance the timing instead of doing it by vacum. So i would say your going to need to keep it unless you come up with another alternative.

you'd have to keep it or it'd run funny unless you found a vacuum advance distributor.

your distributor should be vacume now and you should be able to unplug the comp and it should run fine if not then just plug it in agian i think its just for the smog bs it doesnt control timing on the carb trucks just efi trucks

My truck is a 93, came with a carb from the factory. When i was driving it everyday i was eliminating all the emissions crap. Theare is a plug on the distributor that goeas back to the ecu. once i un hooked it, shazam no more advance. Im not saying all the distributors are like this but mine sure was. So when i started my build i decided to do this. It started life as a MSD probillet distributor for another vehicle. I kept the top and remade the whole lower end to fit in the Isuzu head. http://www.hubgarage.com/mygarage/vehicles/14156/photos/816592
