Last year i had my cam shaft plug that is in the backside of the head to come out. Had to be at a show the next day and didnt have time to get a new one so we put some gasket sealer on it and snapped it back in. Well i guess the sealer has wore out and now it is leaking about a quart a day around the camshaft plug. There is hardly any room to get to it but i have to get the old one out in order to install the new one. Any idea on removing it??? I've removed the valve cover and the bracket that goes behind the plug.

you have to pull at least the back two bolts that hold the cam in maybe the back four. it should let it come out. if it doesnt you may have to pull the whole rocker arm part out. It may be better to take it all out because it is supose to get sealant under the rocker assy to the head. at the front and back.

I'm to the point now that im think about cutting part of the firewall away to gain access to it from inside the truck....lol. I was told to try a self tapping screw and then i would have something to grab too or atleast a hole that i may be able to grab.  UPDATE>>>>>>>> forget about cutting the firewall, i'd have to take my dash out. Any ideas at all for removing this plug??? It's like a big 40mm freeze plug but it is used to keep the oil in the head.

so the freeze plug not the cam plug that sucks, you may be able to get it out with a self tapping screw but it takes a hammer and socket to put it back in the right way. i would pull the head to do it right once.

Nah it's the cam shaft plug.... just looks like a rubber coated freeze plug...LOL!

Yeah thats a lot easier. no hammer to install. so did you get it fixed yet.

I was told to take the rocker asmly loose...all 16 bolts and that i could raise them up enough to knock it out the back side with a long thin screwdriver. I'm going to try that today..

That should do it. When I put the reman head on my truck I forgot that thing and lost about 2 quarts trying to get it started. I ended up pushing it in with a prybar, prying off of the firewall.

After several failed attempts by me and my friend we decided to remove the bolt to the rocker aslmy and pushed it straight out the back. Now i'm gonna finish my oil change and what it does. Thanks!
