OK so we changed that rear cam plug and it is still leaking somewhere
in the rear of the engine. Could it be the rear main seal??? Any other thing it could be???
It is loosing like a quart a day! Please help if you can. Thanks!

in the back there is a lemon slice rubber piece that goes in, just like the one in the front. I once forgot to put that on and had the same problem but caught it quickly. Try that. garenteed thats it. it goes between the valve cover and head in the back.

It could be the rear main. How many miles? Does it smoke on start up? could also be an oilpan gasket. Did you put sealant inbetween the mating surfaces on the cam caps? Last resort take it to a mechanic.

Yeah i've done replaced the cam plug/seal in the rear. It smokes on start up but i'm thinking that is the valve seals.Oil pan gasket... it shooting the oil up too far up on the firewall for that.... i think. Was i suppose to put a selant between the plug and the mating service?Yeah if it's the rear main i'm taking it to my mechanic...lol.

Hey man its your fuel pump....lmao!

I meant if you cant figure it out, a mechanic will be able to tell you were the leak is. If it puffs a blueish cloud out at start up its the valves seal, if it smokes the same color until it gets to running temp then its the piston rings like mine was when I bought my truck. The rings were toast at 137,000 and it was stock. I didnt use sealant on my plug, just where metal meets metal on the head. If there is a deffinite puddle of oil under your truck its not burning it. Mine was burning 3 quarts a week just because I was driving it. Your block could also be cracked.

---------------------------------------------You may be onto something here. There is a 1/4" plastic spacer between the head and the fuel pump. I've had one of those crack on one of my trucks and it leaked oil all over the place!

Edited: 3/22/2009 9:12:10 AM by coastautosportsThats what it was...we put in a new fuel pump and spacer yesterday. The old spacer had grooves on it like someone before pryed on it and heat eventually cracked it.:DRAG:
