i was wondering if it was safe to use fill two five gallon tanks with the viair dual 480 pack and how long it will take to fill that up       will that make the life of the compressors shorter???          do yall recommend that i just stick with 5 gallons or go to ten???

I had my dual 480's filling 2 5 gals for a while and didn't have any problems.  Fill time wasn't that fast from empty but the recovery time for 165-200 was quick.  I ended up pulling one of the tanks for another truck and don't think I'll go back to 10 gals.  I don't have as much play time on the 5 gals but the recovery is so much faster the difference is barely noticeable.

i had 2 400s on my 2 5 gallon tanks.  when i got my 480s i switched the 2 5s to 1   8 gallon.  and also went from 150 psi to the 200 psi on the 480s

480 compressors have a 100% duty cycle so it wont hurt to run them for a while while you wait to fill the tanks up..compressor life will be the same as usual if your not trying to build more then 200psi which is what the 480's are rated at...I would recommend one 5 gallon tank unless your really switch happy just cause i hate waiting for air

its not bad a buddy of mine has 2 480's on 2 five gallon tanks. it takes a little long to fill up but the play time is longer too. i just have 2 480s on one five gallon. its good too. so either way it really wouldnt matter.

I have two 450's on two 5 gallon tanks and the fill from zero takes a good 10-12 minutes, but from 145-175 its about 2 minutes.
