im gonna try to fix the toe out on my hhr. i have already got the camber good at ride height.
the steering wheel is about a 1/4 turn to the left. so when i go to turn the tie rods, do i center the steering wheel then make each side straight? or is there another way to center the steering wheel?
the toe isnt too bad but i may not have enough adjustment if i have to use that to center the steering wheel.

I know when I had mine done they set the wheel straight and used a tool to lock it in place then adjusted the tie rods accordingly.

well if the vehicle pulls your gunna have to take it to a shop to hook the sensers up to it. if not then you are going to want to draw a line with a paint marker on the sleve and the tie rod end. on both sides. making a continuous line, and a refrence line to show how much youve turned the sleve.   then with the jam nut loose you want to adjust the tie rod so  wheel moves in the direction the steereing wheel is off .so if the the steering wheel is off twords the driver side, you want to adjust the wheels twords the driver side.  make sure you adjust the left and the right as equal as you can. and dont turn too much, take your time, do a little bit, then tighten everything and go test drive. i used to be an allignment tech, and this method has always worked pretty well for a quick adjust.

i flipped the ball joints to the bottom side, which i later found out was a bad idea. its perfect at ride height but when you lay it out it toes in really bad. so bad i almost ran off the road going about 40 trying to see wha height it handled best at. i guess im gonna put the ball joints back and take it to an allignment shop.

Obviously you've learned the hard way that you can't go moving pivot points without concequences. You'll be best having an alignment shop do it for sure. I still have other people do my alignments, just cause their tools are WAY better than mine for aligning.
