I have a paint question. I want one of the two. I have a 93 fullsize truck if I sand it all the way down to bare metal can I then clear it to seal it from rusting. or sand it all the way down to bare metal put some water on it and park it out side for a few days to give it a small rat rod rust look. then clear over the rust look? is any of this possible? thanks

If I recall someone writing a article in a mag about this.  I believe it was stated that just clearing over bare metal will create moisture under the clear and rust from the inside out, same with clearing over rust.  What they suggested was spraying the panel with a brown then a metallic color over it.  Take some scotch bright to it and make it appear that it is rusting.  Sorry I am no better help, I am just starting to learn also.

i did this on the bed floor of  my truck. i spun it in the bare metal (so it looks like that engine turned stuff) and then used some ppg etch primer. i cant recall the numbers exactly but its really really transparent, its almost clear. anyways i sprayed that over the metal and then did the kandy and clear. I havent had any problems with rust yet(about a year and a half), but i dont know how good it would do without any sort of etch and just clear...
