When making a notch, what should be the minimum wall thickness....it's for a 92 yota.  Will .125 suffice??

or should it be at least 3/16"

if you're making it out of flat stock i'd use at least 3/16 for the sides and you could get by with 1/8 for the tops and bottoms.  if you're using square tubing definately use 3/16 wall

Will do.  It's gonna be out of 3/16" square tubing.  I agree...I looked everywhere on here and couldn't find basic info like this.

I use 3/16 wall for 2x3 and 1/8 wall for 2x4 on minis depending on application other materials can be used

.125 wall is plenty thick for a notch made of 2x3 tubing, you will get good well penitration even if you are using a 110v mig. The 3/16 you have chosen will work fine too, just a little more beef to it. Be sure to bevel your edges back at the mitre joints when you weld it up and you will be gold. Have fun building and be sure to show us some pix when your done.
