i just check the injector pulse with my snap-on scanner (it's measured in mili-seconds), but if you don't have a scanner, then i guess all you can do is just pull the air cleaner off & physically look at them.  if you have an adjustable timing light, you can adjust it while looking at the fuel spray going down into the throttle body & see if the pattern is even between the two.  if your fuel pressure is good, then yes, your pump is fine (unless it's intermittent).  you can check your timing too but don't forget to disconnect the brown "quick connect" wire located under the relay cover which is on the firewall on the passenger side.  another common GM problem is the ignition control module which is only about $25 & is under your distributor cap (where the harness plugs into the distributor...only held on by 2, 1/4" bolts).  also test your spark on each cyl. i guess the big question would be if it's an actual miss, or just GM's standard "slight stumble".  i guess it's hard to explain, but if it's just the stumble...you'll never get rid of it. good luck & hit me up if you need anything else..  corey

Thanks for the help Corey.  This is something that started recently so I think something is going on as opposed to a slight stumble.  Ill replace the ignition control module today and see if it helps.   I dont have a timing light to check the spray but maybe I can borrow one.

cheap ass way i have always tested them was to get a lenth of hose. but one end on a injector and the other end to your ear. if you hear clicking its working.  snap on tool you will probably only use once or a lenth of hose you steal from your neighbors garden and can reuse to syphon gas out of there tank? sorry neighbor. ps i hate my neighbors. but the hose trick works.

I can hear them clicking with the air cleaner off.  I swapped the ignition control module but it didnt help.  I picked up a timing light and I can see the timing mark moving when the engine is missing.  My question is, is the timing changing because of the miss or is the engine missing because the timing is off or "slipping" maybe?  Sorry guys, I dont have much experience troubleshooting a motor so I hope this makes sense.
