I'm going to have to relocate my stock tank to the rear of my Tacoma and I was thinking of just going with a fuel cell.  Now I've heard that they will not pass smog (Cali).  I'm curious if the ones that are sold somewhere like JEGS will take my stock fuel sender, filler neck, breathers, etc. I'm having a bitch of a time trying to figure a safe way to mount my stock tank to my frame, and a cell would be optimal because of the rectangle/square shape and the tabs.  Any suggestions or fuel cell knowledge??

Here's a pic of the frame setup. I'd like to hang it from the frame rather than set it inside. Suggestions??

Also, it's for a 98 Taco that has the pump in the tank.

I used a fuel cell from summit racing.  I adapted the stock gas cap into the fuel cell and put the fuel cell cap into the bed floor. the bed was full sheetmetaled and it looked like I just relocated the stock gas tank. as for smog they only check the cap, but a fuel cell is an automatic fail. But it depends on the person smogging your truck, sometimes they dont check. It is a gamble unless you know someone that will help with the smog.

Just make sure you dont just use the tabs to hold the fuel cell, it needs to have a sturdy mount to sit on top of, cause the tabs alone will not hold the weight of the fuel cell.Mine sits in the rear and its not goin anywhere lol
