making a notch

on an 88 FS chevy, would 2x3x3/16 be ok as long as I use fish plates on all joints? I have about 15 ft of it laying here, but wanted to find out if it'd be ok, befor I did it.

yes,that will be fine. i use the same on everything i notch,unless its a heavy duty truck.

i did mine on my old mazda out of 1/8 inch plate. I don't see why 3/16 wall tubing wouldn't be enough so long as you put the fish plates on it. it's not like it's got to hold alot of weight. Plus that's alot thicker and stronger than the factory frame.

with that much tubing make a whole rear clip. lol.
