I'm considering doing a yota front clip on my Dakota, but I have a few questions. What needs to be done to the front suspension to lay on a 20" wheel (bodied)? I know I need drop spindles, triangulate the lowers. Modifying the drag link is just for oil pan clearance with a dropped motor correct? I've been looking through the profile pics, and it looks pretty simple really, I just like to have all the info I can get before starting something. One more thing, would a toyota rear end hold up behind a mildly built 318? I can keep my stock Dodge rear end and swap to the older 5 lug axles with the same bolt patter as the front, but the toyota rear looks like it will be around 4 to 6 inches narrower depending on which year I use. That would nice.

I'm not sure what could be done with the front, but if you are worried about the rear end, you can get an 8.8 rear from a Ranger.  They are maybe an inch wider and have lots of aftermarket for building them up if needed.  The squarebody Ranger is the narrowest, and I think it was the cab and chassis as well as the 4wd that had the 8.8.  The rest of them had the 7.5 which also isn't bad, it was stock with the 302 Mustang for quite a few years.

Yeah, that was another option I was considering with the Ford rear. I asked about the toy, because it would be simpler to just get a complete roller chassis than just the front clip. The U-pull here won't let you bring in any cutting tools, so you have to hassle with them to go cut it out for you.

Ive seen quite a few toys done up with 302's, 305's, 350's and even a few with 383's and they had stock rears in them and they held up fine. and aussie locker makes a rear locker for them to make them even better. But I'm alittle biased towards the toys rather than the fords. If I were going to use a ford I would use a ford 9" rear but I don't know how wide those usually run but the toys are pretty narrow.
