87 ign prob

ok i pulled the wiring and steering colum from my 87 to put in my 82 and now i cant figure out the ign ...what the hell does the rod connect to

What Rod? If you are refering the to switch rod on driver side it goes from the key cylinder to the ignition switch at the base of the column. There is a rod on the pass side of the column that goes from the multi function switch to the dimmer switch at the base of the column.
