Well I know its not a truck engine but I figure it should be the same. I just put a big bore kit in my Kawi V twin quad. It consisted of new nikasil'd cylinders, high compression pistons and wrist pins, high lift cams, hd valve springs and hardwelded rocker arms. I assembled everything as manual instructed, cleaned and dryed everything thoroughly, use the right lubes where needed, and checked clearances on everything. Got it all back together and have been doing this break in method per the kit manufacturer. Warm up, ride it hard 15 min. shut down, cool down to the touch and do it again 5 times. Well I changed the oil after each step and after the 3 time I noticed very fine metal shavings in the bottom of the drain pan. So small that is looked like sparkles in the oil. I didn't pay attention the first 2 oil changes. Now I am freaking out that something is going wrong on the inside. It runs strong so I don't know what could be going on. Any suggestions if this is normal while breaking in an engine? I have rebuilt a few chevy motors before but never paid attention to the oil after changing it.
Sorry for the novel but I needed to vent cuz I am freaking out about it:(
