I had made a thread like 9 months ago about this, I believe. . .   But I can't find it to bump it. . .   But I have some more questions about this. .   I am about to start my backhalf so I've been drawin up a backhalf on photoshop. .   I have a 93 ext cab Mazda and I'm using an 86 Nissan 300zx IRS. .   The backhalf I have drawn up is a simple setup, where the bag pushes on the trailing arm. .   But I want it to be a lil more than that. .   So I come back to the coilover/cantilever.    I'm tryin to do somethin a lil out of the norm.  I don't care about it performing like im on the track. .   I jus want it to ride nice and look sweet!

So I'm thinkin about mountin the bag behind the IRS and runnin the coilovers as well.  But as I look at coilovers, I get lost. .   They have different weight ratings and such. .   How do I figure out what weight rating I would need? ?  And what problems do you forsee me runing into? ?  Or do you think I should jus go with a regular cantilever, or jus the bag on the trailing arm? ?  I jus need some input. .

I found some hot rod coilovers that look to be like somethin I could use on eBay that a guy is sellin.  But I don't wanna waste money on somethin I'm not gonna use. . .

This is the backhalf I drew up. . .   And let me know if you see any areas on it that need some more work. . .  Thanks Max

The problem with stacking springs is calculating spring rates, but that can be overcome with a few minutes on the nerdulator. The real issue would be stacking the shock and the bag. the shock should be directly driven by the suspension and having a bag inbetween the suspension and the shock will negate anything that the shock would be used for. If you want something the is crazy for the sake of crazy but still works good, pick one or the other... or both. But do them individually, don't stack them.

Ok. .   Thats what I needed to hear. .   Thanks man. .   I'll jus look into a regular cantilever i I decide to do somethin more in depth than bag on arm. . .    -Josh

Or you could do the cantilever with a hydraulic ram. The ram will not move, so the entire srping rate would be on the coilover. Unlike a bag, where the bag and spring would be moving at the same time.
