I have been running around from shop to shop trying to get an honest opinion and diagnosis.. Surprise surprise.. Ive had to do it myself taking every quote and opinion, and using the internet!!! I probably shoulda come here first tho.. Heres the problem:Steel on steel like scraping noise on deceleration ONLY, and in 3rd/4th/5th gears.. The noise greatest and more 'urgent' when deceleration/engine breaking is heaviest.. eg, going fast down a very steep hill in 3rd and then taking foot off the gas but staying in gear. However the noise STARTED weeks back ONLY under acceleration. a quote from another forum"hi, in my experience, when pinion bearings are worn they are noisy all the time not just under deacceleration, can I suggest prop centre mount has collapsed as prop drops down under deacceleration and lifts its self back up under the load of acceleration, its quite awkward to check even on a ramp as heatshields cover it, but if you can get a hold of prop and it thumps up and down in centre, mount has collapsed. worth a try."WOuld you guys concur that my centre bearing has gone?

Sounds like you have a driveshaft vibration. I had the same thing happen on my toyota after having my trans crossmember redone.
