Hey Max, I just wanted to double check on this. Im building a full chassis right now for an explorer that will have a V8 with around 500HP the trucks not getting body dropped just a full custom chassis with a mustang 2 front clip and a Heidts IRS setup. I'm building the frame out of 2x4 1/8 wall. What I'm wondering is would it be a bad idea to try to make the frame the tank on this thing? Running 2 Viair 480 compressors and the frame will have shear load plates on all tall side butt welds I'm not sure if I want to do them internal or external yet. I'm mainly concerned with the amount of power going into this thing allready having enough stress on it. Thanks for the info.

completely off subject here but i have a question. if you're building an entire frame for the truck why not BD it?

Customer didn't want to he has a body kit moulded into it. If I had my way it would have been body dropped. Heres the build http://www.streetsource.com/forum/topic.aspx?topic_id=110686&Page=1

will it try to bow out the sides of the 2x4 with it being that thin.

The 2x4x.120 should be fine in that situation. It is your job to make sure that there are minimal stress risers for a crack to start.

ok cool I just wanted to make sure the material its self could handle it with the power. I haven't even ran it by the owner yet. We were gona run a 10 gallon tank where the stock gas tank used to be. Thanks.
