My buddy and I are about to lay down paint on my ranger, and I was leaning toward a hot rod flatz single stage, but he is swearing up and down that we'd be better off doing a basecoat then the clear. My question is has anyone ever used the kustom shop urethane metallic basecoat and 2k urethane clear and is it any good. It seems very cheap compared to everyone else. Thanks for any opinions/info

for that type of job, go with single stage flat. its cheaper and easier. 2 coats and a controll coat and ur dun (for the metallics anyway)  plus the single stage is more durable.

My old roommate did the hot rod flatz brand flat black on his daily f-250 and it turned out awesome. It was only $120 for a gallon and it came with all the necessary hardener, reducer, ect.  It laid perfect and dried nice and even. I've also seen their Daytona Blue Pearl Flat and it looked amazing.

I have the hotrodz flat on mine. Easy to shoot and very durable. Paint has been on my truck for two years and still looks just as good as it did on day one. paint colors(Copper metallic pearl and true white)
