ive got a 90 model dually with tilt and the steering column is a little loose at the pivot point of the tilt, does anyone know how to fix this?....i talked to someone at the dealer and they told me it can be fixed without replacing the whole column but it required some specialty tools... any ideas what i need to do????

there is a bearing way down in the column that needs to be tightened (do this before is cuts a cruise wire or something else and you loose cruise or something else) there is specialty tool to do it, I have heard of backyard ways to do it, but guessing you dont want your key lock broken or blinkers not to work...  they have to take off the wheel, the blinker switches insde, the ingnition lock, and get way down there to the bearing...  I heard of a guy here in sioux falls SD that will do it for around $40...  worth it for me, not to have to find the tool and take the time..

he is correct, and for sure if someone will do it for $40 DO IT. it is such a PAIN IN THE ASS to do. with the special tools or not.

yep they are right it is a pain in the ass to do but its worth it if you dont want to buy another column, you are only able to get to 2 of the 3 nuts that come lose which cause it to get loose

would this also apply to 90s model s10. my column does the same thing.

i believe so, ive only have tore down from 73-94 chevy columns so far

Its been a while since I've done one, but you will need a steering wheel puller, lock plate depresser and some picks to pry up the snap ring
