I just wondering how hard it is to convert 4wd suspension to 2wd suspension. Would everthing just bolt up? I am asking cause i've been wanting to get a 92-95 4runner or a 98-01 navigator but everything I come across has been 4wd and which ever one I get I plan on bagging. Also I found me a 95 4runner for $2400 in good shape and if everything from a 2wd 4runner bolts up then I might just get it.Thanks for any info

Im not familiar with your part of the country so I dont know where, but for instance I live in Las Vegas and there are tons of 2wd ones. Even if you found one here and bought it over the internet and paid a thousand dollars to have it shipped to you, it would still be easier and cheaper than switching it all over.  Theres probably a lot more work than your imagining with taking on that project and it would more than likely cost you at least a grand to do it right not to mention all your time.   also your gonna have the long term affect of paying extra insurance because you will be registering a 4wd no matter what you do to it.  hop on craigslist or ebay and search around. (sorry for the novel, i just woke up and i tend to go off!)

I agree its way cheaper to have a 2wd one shipped to you. If you are in North carolina, you could probably get something from florida, and just drive it back. Anyway, even if you tried, 2wd frames and 4wd frames are usually different.

A 2wd 4runner won't do you much good- they were built on the 4wd frame, with 4wd suspension that hangs way below the frame, just without the 4wd drivetrain. If you have your heart set on a lowered 4runner, keep looking around- they come up for sale fairly frequently.  There's one here in NorCal that's traded hands like 5 times in two years!  Good luck!

I had a 2 wheel drive Tahoe shipped from Louisiana to Washington, because I could find a 2 wheel drive 2 door around here!   But like Phil said the 4runners are all build with the same 4 wheel drive front clip,  everything hangs low and if you want to lay it out you will need to reclip it anyway with a 2 wheel tacoma clip.  Do more research on how the different the fronts of the vehicles are you want then make your decision.

Thanks for all the info. Some people were telling me that the 2wd suspension would just bolt up so I'm glad that I didn't just go out and buy it. I live about 2 to 2.5 hours away from the mountains so I didn't even put that into consideration. I've been looking in the charlotte area  and I still haven't had any luck. I really didn't want to travle to far to get a car.

yeah I guess the 4 runners are weird, but for a 2wd navi you should find one somewhere.   I think what people do with 4 runners is build a 2wd toyota truck frame and put the 4 runner body on it. dont really know, ive never really messed with one.  I suppose if you dont want to do a full frame off build you could probably hack the front frame rails off and put on the clip of a 2wd truck. you could z it up a little too.
