quick 4 link question

just a quick question 4 a newbie, looking at using a 4link rear in in my isuzu, do you still use a shock absorber as well??

You sure do. All the four link does is locate the axle in the truck, it does not offer any springing or dampening of the suspension. Both functions can be added to a four link if desired but thats another story.
