actually, i would set up 4 link at half travel, then set the pinon at ride height.

I always set up 4 links at ride height, watts links at half travel. Pinion is fine tuneable with the adjustment ends but it should be 'set' with tab placement IMO. Not saying I'm right, I just dont see how you could set the 4 link and pinion angle seperately.

I typically set up 4-links and pinion angles at half travel, but this is subject to the intended use of the vehicle. Once I find out where/how the truck is driven at I'll adjust the angle accordingly. If your 4-link has enough adjustability in the bars and brackets you can dial in everything you could ever need to. Flip open a summit or jegs and look at their 4-link kit brackets and bars. All the holes in the brackets are for adjust all those import suspension terms. Now this is probably overkill for a mini but I build more than minis and at the track you need the adjustabilty. As far as the tailshaft angle goes, 1 to 3 degrees should be fine.
