What year is the truck? The o/d sounds like the installer may not have wired in an O/D lock up harness. On an ECM controlled trans the computer tells the torque convertor when to go into lock up and when to unlock. If it is a 700R4 trans then you can buy a lock up harness to convert it.  The clutch pedal is a read to ground circuit. The pedal hits a switch and makes ground. Get a wiring schematic and it will show what wires need to be by passed and what need to be sent to ground.  Hoped this helps
