Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before. I have a 1999 GMC 1/2 ton extened cab short box. I just put new 20" rubber and used rims on and the truck has a very bad vibration in it now. I had them balance the wheels when installed. The vibration kicks in at around 50-60 miles and hour(about 100kph canadain). The shop that sold me the tires says the rims are bent or drilled offset in the hub area but why they not tell me that before the install. Could the tires be seperating or bad shocks or just a bad balance job.also at about that speed you get a really weird sound not like a rear end hum but a loud droning sound. It's driving nuts and i'm lost on what it could be.Thanks you for the help.

if i didnt do it before the new 20" tires i would think maybe they balanced them wrong go back and have them rebalanced i know from working at caddy here in my city that caddy owner don't like to have vibration in there caddy so when we installed tires we did what you road force balancing it simulated like your driving at high speeds and if you didn't get the tire  balance out to the correct numbers you scraped that tire a get another sometimes the you went through 2 sets of tires to find 4 that could be balanced to specs not have any vibration at the high interstate speeds  you know the only reason to balance a tire is cause the tire company can't make it perfect so we have to fix there flaws  with balancing the tire

hey man sounds like the tire shop didnt do the balance right.  If you got the rims used maybe you should do an alignment on the truck.  putting new rims on a vehicle with just a balance which i made the mistake of doing will cost you a couple of tires.  I would suggest getting an alignment.  Hope this hlps

i know its a long shot but try checking your carrier bearing

The hum sounds like a rear end problem or a bearing going bad. my dads 94 used to do that but we dumped it before anything really started to take a shit.
