So my Inlaws came down to visit a few months ago (with another new car lol) The entire visit they talked about, and hinted around to wanting "A flying American Eagle in front of a beautiful sunset"
I
didnt think to much of it because they know how busy I was in the shop.
It wasn't until the day before they left when my wife and my inlaws
came to me and practically begged me to airbrush an eagle on the hood
of there new civic haha! The whole time I'm thinking "Are you serious?"
lol My wife says "Hell Yeah they are"!!!
And I'm like damn,........ I guess I get to learn how to do eagles today
My fresh canvis lol..........
All prepped and ready to go....
This was the reference photo they gave me,...nice ehh
My quickstyle free- hand sketch lol
Next I cut
after lightly dusting on a white base, I then taped off what would be the head and feet (or claws?)
I also taped off the portion of the tail feather that will remain white
Then
with the air brush I lightly dusted on some brown kandy I quickly mixed
and then began detailing the eagles body (feathers and what not)
feather by feather I airbrushed the shape of the wing
Once
I was done with that I untaped, and the reverse maksed the beak, claws,
mouth and nails. and shaded them with more kustom kandy mixtures to
create depth.....
Next I untaped the rest of the bird (head and tail)
It really comes to life with the shading of some black kandy
I love the pic just because it looks crazy! especially compared to the first one I took before any airbrushing lol!
^^ Crazy ehh
Now it was time to reverse mask the eagle and airbrush there "beautifull sunset" lol
^^^That
was a bitch........I also decided to do a "darker sunset scene" with
mountains in a black horizon.....and a little water reflecting the
sunset? hell I don't know wtf I'm doing this isnt really my cup of tea
haha!
Next airbrushed the entire scene in white so I could come back over it with kandy colors
First, I started shading with the pink and purple tones ........
Next I went with the yellow tones,....
I went from pink & purple to yellow because when I come over it
with the red kandys it will also bring out the orange and deeper
majenta tones by layering kandys
I
also hit the water and outter egdes of the cloud with a blue kandy
mixture covering the pinks & purples creating even deeper blues
And finally!!.... untaped and ready for clear!!!!
All in a days worth of work lol I'll post upload the rest of the pics and post them later on this evening......... Thanks guy's and let me know what you think??? "Lost Cause"
