I started using 800 and picked up some 1000. so it sounds like i should just use 800 right?  im trying to stay away from the only paint shop i know of cause they talked me into the cheap shit and also cant match for shit on basecoats. there is an oreileys close that mixes but im scared to try them for basecoat. ill see what clears they sell though since im done with baselooks like i got enough on that im not sanding through with 800. i should be using a slow activator for painting when its hot right? i think it may have been flashing to quickly using medium. is that Matrix ag40 or Maxrix has anyone used 5star glamour clear? it was suggested by someone local. and whats the difference between high solids and med solids? is high solids better cause it shrinks less?

you can also look into southern polyurethanes. they have some pretty nice clears too and not that expensive

I use 600 to 800 to reclear. NOTHING finer.  also a good trick is to spray a coat of adhesion promoter over the whole area before the clear.  I have used refinishing solutions and it is fine for painting small things. It is really thin. like water.  AG40 is the best i think. and only about 200 for a 5 liter kit which is about 2 gallons mixed.  If you really want a cheap clear the Nason stuff is ok. Just remember cheap clear is usually very watery thin and takes more coats to get enough on there and  when you go to cut and buff it is usually more time consuming to buff out.    also if you want to reclear because you didnt get enough on in the first place be sure you dont sand through!

So where can i get the AG40? whats a good website to order from?

most websites dont sell paint stuff like that since its hard to ship and usually for "professional use only". the nason clear we use, 2 good wet coats and its covered. i did some thinking today when i was stripping paint off a rachero, we do use 800 grit for reclearing. last thing i sanded to re clear i blocked with 800...

i agree with all those that recommend autoglas from matrix. its probably their best clear. i used a shit ton of msv 21 for cheap shit like rhinos and stuff. but its a better deal when they came out with that. i get it for 150 a kit for 2 sprayable gallons.  and the other option is spi like someone mentioned. there uv clear is pretty durable. for a clear a little better then those but a little cheaper then hok. sem real clear is another choice. has great build for graphics. but doesnt get as hard too fast like uc35 does. actually sems whole line is bitchen and ive done a few jobs with their complete system.
