How do I get a Stubborn Brake Drum off an S10????

So I am going thru a recently purchased `94 S10 and I cannot seem to get the driver's side bake drum off the bloody axle. I have pryed and beaten it, used brake cleaner and WD40. Even had a couple mates take a crack at it. I think maybe a bomb went off inside it and is making things hang up internally. The drum wiggles and turn on the wheel studs but WILL NOT slide off.
 
If anyone has any ideas before I take a torch to it and just cut it off, please let me know.
 
I figure it has to be me doing something wrong or just being plain daft.

on the inside of the plate there is a slot. there is a star adjuster wheel inside. turn it and it will make the brakes closer together so you can slide it off. right now the brake shoes are holding it on.
