hey man. yeah, you could go that route by swapping all the parts and pieces from a 1-ton to a half ton, but in the long run, I think you would save a lot of money and headaches by holding off to find a used dually in decent shape...if your  set on swapping over on a half ton, then youll need the 1-ton hubs, spindles, and control arms from a 1-ton donor.  you can use the 3500 dually rearend, but i think if you get a 2500 8-lug rearend they're a few inches narrower than the 3500. good luck either way, AND POST PICS when you get started!

I don't know if you plan to bag it or not but if not hold on for a ROUGH ass ride. The old saying rides rougher than an empty one ton came from some where remember, lol. They do look straight sick though, check out this one... http://lowboymotorsports.com/site_3.0/gallery.html

well thanks for the offer but im really wanting a reg cab dually long bed...  its something my dad had when i was a kid and he towed his hot rod with it and i wanna build a throw back dually ith some bags and some 16 inch neepers and a topper...  ii know its kinda strange but like  i said its just one of those things thats been in my head for a long time...  another reason i wanna go with a 1\2 ton is it comes with a 4 speed not the turbo 400..  i want to be able to drive this thing and not get fn horrible gas mileage lol   since all im doing is towing a car and a trilor i should have no problem with a small block and 4l60...    But if it all bolts in what other costs would i hve in the long run?  I already know where the hubs and rear end is so if it bolts in then it should be all gravy then right?  am I missing something?

the lower arms are the same as the ones on any fullsize, 1500, 2500, 3500, suburban, tahoe, and the full size vans as long as its two wheel drive. the uppers different for the 1500, but 2500 and 3500 have the same control arms but different ball joints, im pretty sure the 3500 control arms will bolt up to a 1500 frame but not 100%. and on the transmission thing you mentioned in 92 or 93 i think they switched and put 4l80e's in duallys so you can get a 1 ton with a 4spd
