If you are running normal toggle switches, get a set of glass bits from the hardware store (about $13) to drill out the holes for the shank. You're goin to need to cut an access on the back side to get the switches in. I diamond wet/dry tile blade should work for that.

what if i put two rocker switches in it couldnt i just then cut out like two little rectangles and stick those in?

You could take it to a glass cutter, Someone who makes custom glas tops for tables or something like that. I'm sure you could find a glass guy somewere.

any glass shop around your way that cuts mirrors should be able to accomodate you , i used to drill mirrors for switch plates in houses when i did flat glass, but there is always a chance it will break. but that just means u got to drink another bottle!

why does the glass crack easier with right angles

You can get glass waterjet cut, and that is the best way for complex shapes and what not.  I do it all the time at work for High end Homes and all of their strange custom glass art requests.

i might just try and cut it myself it doesnt hurt to try something. if im gonna do it i really want rocker switches not a big fan of toggles anymore. what if i get a set of smaller glass bits drill four holes one for each corner of the toggle then cut a straight line to connect each hole. if that make sense. might aswell try it

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by yota4lifewhy does the glass crack easier with right angles---------------------------------------------a circle is much stronger than a box with angles. stress is distrubuted easier in a circular form, not so much in a square or rectangle form.

have you thought of maybe using a jager tin for a box? its the same shape, easier to cut out for the switches and youll have less of a problem explaining the ole "open container" to a cop if you get pulled over.

never seen the jager tin. and i dont drink as it is so i shouldnt have a problem telling a cop and most of them are cool around here anyway
