s10 question i need some quik info on it

buddy of mine has a 96 gmc sonoma regular cab when the drive shaft is in the truk straight with it in neutral it turns fine but when u pick the drive shaft up like the truk is layed out it turns bout quarter way around an feels like it locks any1 ever heard of this happenin or an suggestion 2 fix the problem would b great
