I have RE7s on the back of my truck.  I was just underneath and noticed at the bottom of one of the bags I have about an inch long section that I can see metal weaving through, about 1/8"  wide crack.  Now I am scared to drive the truck back home, is this normal and can I drive it or should I have the bitch towed home and not chance it.  The truck is on the rockers and I cannot blow a bag, there will be not much option of getting it home after that.  I have read people saying this shit happens with slams sometimes and its just cosmetic, just bothers me a little.  Thanks for the input!

EDIT  I looked at it a little more, it is more like 1/4 tp 3/8" wide, bout an inch long.  Its not leaking.  Safe or not?  Not sure how long its been like this.

The outside is just to keep it from the elements.  Its ok to ride on but I would change it out as soon as you can to be safe.

How far do you have to drive?... i drove on this for about 10-15 miles before parking it to replace it. The back end needed to be aired up about every 2 miles or so but it made it home for me, but i live in a small city and drove slow and carefully, plus i did'nt air mine up fully for the drive home due to the fact i thought it would pop on me. If you drive be careful about it everybody has a different story to tell about there bags blowing but you should be able to feel your truck drooping like I did. sorry for the huge picture. it's all i had of it.

i sent the link to this thread to Nick over at Slam Specialties so he can look into it.  Maybe he can help figure it out.  Excellent guy to deal with!!

I had the rear two slams on my suburban do the same thing.  I don't know how long they were on it.  I just bought 2 new ones and put them on.

i heard the early model slam bags were bad about getting pregnancies on the sidewalls. i havent seen them do this in a couple years tho. how old are your bags?

My bags are pretty new, with less than 500 miles on them.  They are not rubbing on anything, nor anywhere close to anything.  Im not sure why it is doing it.  I will get a pic up tomorrow when its light out.  I got it home, its now about 2 to 3 inches long and about 3/4 of an inch wide.  Looks really bad but held air.
