Hey guys... I have an '04 Silverado with a 5.3L V8... about a month or so ago, it started acting up on me...

When I turn it on, the engine barely idles and then shuts off... however, if i manage to get the truck in drive before it shuts off and step on the accelarator to drive... the truck is absolutely fine, but as soon as i take my foot off the pedal and start braking, once im almost at a complete stop the truck starts "sputtering" again and the idle drops and it shuts off...

I tried looking into it and looked into my truck repair manual, and it sounds like it could be the AIC valve, however, I cannot find the AIc valve on my truck and after doing some minor research on the internet, i read some people posting that some trucks dont have an "independent" AIC valve???

Any help is appreciated as to what the problem could be... I really need my truck to get back and forth and cant depend on it running this way... Thanks

clean the throttle body the problem your having is due to a dirty throttle body......your truck does not have an idle air control valve....dont ask how i know, im sure many other people will have something else for you to try...i do this for a living! Severed Ties Texas

Yeah was gonna say check the throttle body, or look for vacuum leaks, my truck was doing that, and that's what it was

Sounds like could be vacuum leaks.

theres your problem for some reason these 5.3s act like that every time the throtle body gets dirty take the snorkel pice off, unplug the harness on the left then remove the 4 screws get some carb n throtle body cleaner from your parts store and a clean rag or toothbrush and get all the black stuff off from the butterfly and walls after that put it all back together  and you should be fine just did mine i have a 04 that had a idle problem and now its fixed also while your at it clean the mass air flow sensor with mass air flow sensor cleaner hope that helps o and that stupid hose at the bottom is gona piss you off because it goes threw the throttle body n you have to take it off the get it off ...............hope that helps ...iz
