I'm a c6-c7 quad ( paralzyed from the chest down) and I drive a 98 S-10 that lays body and a 01 Sierra that bagged ... if his paralyzed from the waist down he should have no problem transferring into a lowered truck or a bagged truck by his self and loading his chair in behind the seat   .... I drive with hand controls on the left hand side of the steering wheel push down for gas and forward for brake... It's a good thing your doing  helping this guy out most the shops my trucks have been in  screw me over and take every dime I got and destroy my truck... l8tr

also be aware of what interior you do. These chairs will destroy interiors also rocker panels and door jams. I know the guy from Charactors has had his re painted and my lades car is jacked up too.

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by grilliftalso be aware of what interior you do. These chairs will destroy interiors also rocker panels and door jams. I know the guy from Charactors has had his re painted and my lades car is jacked up too.  ---------------------------------------------I had mine bedlinered so that the rockers don't show the wear. You hardly notice it at all. In fact no one does. You can get it to match just about any color. Some cars its more noticeable. I am the guy from Texas with the Nissan Titan and I just found out about this post and since I am not a silver or gold member, my post are very limited here. If you want to call me, you'll find my phone number on http://www.bdmpastx.com/ on the bottom of the page. Either that or you can hit me up via email also on my page at the bottom. I can provide you with any information you need. I have had minis and this Titan is my first full size truck I have owned. I have had a camper with a  motorized top and an arm to pick up the chair and I prefer to put the chair in myself. You get less wet in rainy situations that way cause it is quicker to get in and out. I am a t3 paraplegic so I have a pretty high injury (armpits down). If your friend is waist down, then he will have an easier time. I have some extreemly useful tips in regaurding to the build from lessons learned so make sure to contact me one way or another.

I've had no problem with my interiers as for the rocker I just slip a wash cloth over the side of my chair when I go to get in .... you want to see a real shock on peoples face roll up and lay a truck out and pull a wheelchair out from behind the seat ...

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by Kutthroatzsince u guys currently have trucks like this anything that would benefit this build is helpful any ideas that would make it easier for him once hes in or getting out any ideas would be a plus for us---------------------------------------------I don't know his exact stuation, but this is what I've found works for me(C-6 C-7 Quad). On my truck we yanked the backseat and thats where I load my chair. Wheelchairs beig loaded in and out is rough on the interior and rockers. I'd keep the interior as simple and durable as you can. Mine has been painted, and it was a mistake. For the rockers carry an old blanket or something else to protect them. For me leather is much easier to transfer accross than cloth. Over build everything. Have shadervalves incase the compressors die unexpectedly. Think of anything that can go wrong and how it will affect him. I don't get on here verry offten, if I can be of more help shoot me an email m_hurley78@yahoo.comAlso I've been thinking about selling my truck at the first of the year. If he's interested all he'd have to do is add his own hand controls.

a extended-cab truck with 4 doors (S-10, Silverado, Sierra, Colorado)  would make it easier to load and unload a chair putting the chair behind the driver seat .... a AVS switchbox with a cord makes it easier to lay the truck out or raise it up from outside the truck..

Most hand controls are like what stock_2bodydrop has I would like to see the Nissans hand controls they were different and look way more comfortable. He has it on the right side off the seat down where your thigh is from what it looked like he had 2 switches on the controls for his air system.  Extended cab would work way better for him just in case he needs to change while he is out somewhere(it hard to put this out there but most parapaligics can not control the blaters) also small things like make sure the windows are tinted so the seat belt buckle dosent get hot enough to burn where he can not feel. The towel thing(for the rockers) works unless they are in a huge rush best bet is to do some kind of coating(rhino line or the 3m clear stuff that the put on door and fender tips.)
