i just sold my flatbed & there are 3 things that are a must!  1. get one with the dovetail.  makes it much easier to load low rigs.2. weld on your own e-track.  it's nice to be able to place your straps anywhere.  also nice for stuff like quads & motorcycles, etc.3. a winch!  whether it's for you, family, or buddies...90% of the cars you'll haul will be dead rigs whether you want to or not, someone will ask you to haul something for them. it would also be nice to have the ramps go on the sides.  mine had them at the back & every really steep driveway & whatnot, i'd drag them.  a spare tire is nice, but you'll want one that mounts to the front of the tongue, not the side...that takes away from the turning radius.  also a swing back jack instead of the tongue mounted one is nice cause i hated not being able to drop my tailgate. i'd say if you have 3 to spend though, i'd look into saving a few more bucks & get a nice enclosed.  you'll regret the flatbed every day.  i had my flatbed for a few years & wished i would have saved up for the enclosed every day.  i finally got a 24 foot enclosed a few weeks ago & i can't believe i didn't do it sooner.  the way the economy is, people are damn near giving their "toys" away.  i got a 2009 24 foot continental for 5 grand.  it was the loaded model too. best of luck either way man, just don't get impulsive...you'll regret it later...trust me! also it says my pics are too large to upload, so i can email them if you want... corey

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by FCKNLOW---------------------------------------------Originally posted by RangerSpiceMy hubby and I just got a sloan roll back trailer. Well worth it, no clearance issues with the minitruckshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dolw2smrbN4 ---------------------------------------------that is sic! how much does one run?---------------------------------------------They're on sale right now for 3800 plus delivery. The cowl was additional, ended up being 4600. No ramps to fuck with. Recessed D rings, 2 recessed tool boxes, lights that shine upward so you can see what you are doing at night. It pulls nice, only drawback is with the cowl, you can't see the back of the trailer when you are trying to back it up. Other than that- awesome trailer, getting a winch eventually.

That Sloan trailer is sweet as hell.I sent an e-mail to them for more information and to see if they have any dealers in Canada.I would like an enclosed trailer but i have 2 things against me one the truck i'm using as a tow pig is only a half ton (8200 lbs tow cap.) and up here in Canada the cheapest enclosed trailer for 20 feet at the shortest is $12,000 new and used your going in that $8500.00 area a little to rich for my blood.Bringing a trailer from the U.S.A that is $5000.00 will be double once you hit the border with all the taxes an odds and ends to get it registered in Canada. Cory,     Please e-mail some pic's of your trailer to longnlow@shaw.ca

I have a 20ft dovetail and have no complaints what so ever!  I bought it for $1200 new with radial tires on it.  I went down and purchased actual bias ply trailer tires for it and thats pretty much it.  The ramps store under the side with a locking pin.  I do wish it had a swing back jack instead of the set back jack so I could put my tailgate down, but oh well.  I do plan on building a tool box behind the tongue for storage of straps and other items I use while towing.  All in all, its probably one of the best tools i've purcahsed.
