My brother-in-law was given 5 gallons of single stage Sherwin-Williams paint the other day. I believe it's the Ackrylid line. He want's to spray his truck with it. So I have a couple of questions. Does this stuff have a shelf life? It's been sitting for at least 2 years before it was given to him. Do we have to use SW reducer or will any reducer work? And will normal 2k primer work or do we need an enamel primer? Thanks.

I sprayd my caprice with sherwin williams air craft paint and its some bad ass shit it was well over two years old and it sprayd fine i am not fimilar with ther automotive line thogh. we use a high build primer and ppg K-36 and it sticks to it on air craft.

Did they give you a hardener with it? It looks as if they have a standard system for their reducers. It show them using 3 parts exempt reducer to 1 part standard reducer. There is probably an additive in one of those two reducers which could cause it to dry funny if you don't use them or it may be fine. Each paint line is different you may give a local jobber a call and ask them they will be quicker to tell you whether you can use something else before calling sherwin williams tech support. Hope that helps if it was PPG then I may have been able to tell you more.
