Just a question that popped in my head.

Does anyone use any type of file instead of a grinder to knock down welds on body work to prevent warping? Was just wondering if it could be done and what type of file would you need to use.

its the welding that warps shit. not the grinding. and i use a sanding disk, (not flap disk) and very rarely use a grinding wheel, cause i personally think they suck

OK, thanks. Yeah I know if you're not careful with welding you can really mess up stuff, but I've heard you can do just as much damage staying in one spot too long with a grinder, even with a flap wheel. I'll just be really careful with the flap wheel then.

Yeah, grinding can warp it too.  I use a cut off wheel on it's edge.  It works really good and creates hardly any heat.
