price increase on tires, is it true?

Ive been hearing from a few sources that beginning the 1st of the yr prices on tires will jump up by 30% or more thanks to our great Obama's cap and trade that passed. Has anyone heard this to be true, or is it just a bulls--t rumor?

god I hope not.  I have to buy 3 sets at the first of the year none of which are under 1500 a set.

Ya i feel you man. Im debating on buying the tires for my 24"s now and just waiting for my wheels later just incase it turms out to be true. Maybe some will be able to clear this up for us.

Isnt general tire made my continental in the US? If so i think that may save my ass when it comes time to but my tires.

yep they sure are. and some of the yokohamas are made in the continental plant.

kumho is japanese i think

their site says the have a US headquarters. And in 2008 they began building a production facility in the US.
