When I try and accelerate lightly from a stop, the rpm jumps straight to around 1800rpm. I have tried pushing down slower and softer, but no dice. I've gone into the engine and tried pushing the throttle by hand, same result. There is like a 'dead spot' ? I've measured the voltage on the TPS and that appears even throughout the range. Haven't measured the resistance tho. Any ideas at all, this is driving me up the pole!!? (Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 - 2005)

yeah but I'm operating the throttle linkage on the throttle body, same story... Oh wait, and this is actually for a Ford Ranger 4.0 2005

The TPS sensor should not have the same voltage throughout travel. It should go up evenly from ~0-5v

My Dodge is doing the same thing! I have already replaced the TPS and the cables? It's at the transmission shop right now. But since it's a Dodge it's probably just the whole transmission  Any other ideas?

I tested the voltage and that seems to move smoothly, but haven't done a resistance test..  Should I?

I just replaced the TPS, and darn it.. no change. Same problem still! Any ideas on where to go from here? Oh and this only happens when WARM. First minute of driving things work perfectly..
