hey man.. that is a good way to completely change the look of your truck.  yes the bed will swap out, assuming you already have the 8 foot bed on your 1/2 ton, and so will all of the suspension parts.  you'll need the upper control arms, spindles, hubs/rotors, etc for the front, and an 8 lug rear and of course dually fenders or a dually bed.  good luck with the build and post some pics!

Sounds like a good plan. Depending on what wheels you are wanting to run, I believe that if you get a rear end out of a Cab and Chassis truck around the same year it will be a little bit narrower than the regular dually rear end.

There was a truck around here several years ago that had the fenders on the regular bed with some big ass Mickey Thompsons on the back, it looked bad ass........something to think about.

you will not need uppers and lowers. You can use the ones you already have just buy the light duty rotors is all you will need they come off of a 2500 chevy i have already done this the inner and outer bearings are the same along with upper and lower ball joints. then all you will need to find is the rear end which then if you can find one outa a 3/4 ton van you can run the 22.5 or 24.5 rims and will not have to extend the fenders out that much and with the bed just use the one you have now and buy the fenders there only 150 bucks instead of buying a hole new bed its cheaper drill the holes to bolt up the dually fenders and cut the inside out for what you will need . but the rotors are all you need to replace in the front everything else from a 1500 to a 2500 are the same calipers to brake pads to inner and outer tie rods and inner and outer bearings so spend 120.00 on new rotors and the front will be done.

i turned a s-10 into a dually so a 1500 should be much easier

yeah i think im going to do this but i have a 6 foot bed not a 8 foot bed will this cause any problems attaching the dually fenders to the fleetside bed??also do you guys think it will look unpropotrional ?

The only issue would  just the fuel filler, if it's going to be shaved no big deal. The dually fenders on a 6 foot bed looks alot different. Kinda unproportional on a crew cab. Might look pretty good on an ext. cab on the ground. Here is a pic i found of short bed dually.
