Wanted to get some advice and opinion’s on putting bags on bar’s on full size chevy for towing. Just a standard  2 link and see if anyone has some pics of if it done that way.

I have been told that if you plan on towing you should stay away from puting the bags on the bar.  over the axel is the way to go, so i've been told.  hope this helps

if your gonna be towing alot id go over axle with  large bag  if  only gonna be towing occaionally  you can go bag on bar  but id keep the bag real close to the axle

I know this one guy who had a older chevy dually with slam re8 bags on the upper 4 link bars, they were mounted closer to the axle. But anyways we made about a 8 hr trip each way to Tennessee in it pulling an enclosed trailer with a yota in it and i thought it rode great.

yea, aslong as its really close to the axle and the lift ratio isnt too much, on the bars will be fine.  But, the further away you get from the axle, the more stress it will see.   Taylor

would there be any real ride difference between a bag on axle versus a bag really close to the axle setup?

idk about ride quality, but your towing capacity would drop the further away your bag gets from the axle i believe.  Taylor

--------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Layumon22s would there be any real ride difference between a bag on axle versus a bag really close to the axle setup? --------------------------------------------- the bag on the bars versus on axle will have a softer ride.   --but are you asking on the axle or bar for ride with a trailer?  trailer adds weight wich makes the bag work correctly, thus making the ride seem softer..   im guessin the real question we all are thinking is "how big of a trailer, and what are you towing with it..?" that info will help you out greatly..
