i have a 96 tahoe 4 door bagged with a reverse four link and drop spindles. the fron has 20s and the back 22s. right now it has rancho 9000 shocks on it which bottom out before the truck causing it to not lay frame, so my question is how do i measure for the right shocks??

take off the shocks, lay it out, measure where the shocks mount, then air it up all the way, then measure where the shocks mount again... then go here http://www.monroe.com/catalog/documents/08_MountingLengthSheet.pdf   and find what you need for the length necessary also the mounting styles

once you get your measurements and know what you need you should be able to go to your local discount auto/napa/whatever and ask them for their shop catalog and they have them listed by exteneded height, compressed height and mounting type. then they can look it up by the part number and by it right there. that's how I have always done. the guys at my local discount auto know me and whenever I tell them I need shocks they just go ahead and pull the book out for me lol
