Depending on your state laws you may be able to apply for a reconstructed title. Usually when a vehivle is in the junkyard the VIN has been retired and now on file as being salvage. Some states also have "home built" registration. Where you can actually build your own car, and the state DMV will assign you a VIN. This comes with a number of hoops to jump through including an inspection by a DMV representative to determine the vehicle is safe for street use. You can re-vin it with a VIN from another 82 d50 that has a clean tittle, which is illegal to do, but i doubt anyone would care. There are laws in place to prevent people from tampering with vins so that vehicles cannot be misrepresented as somthing they are not. VIN plates are also put on the cab in a way that makes them difficult to swap. They come with special stainless steel rivets called "rosette rivets" which are only availible to automobile manufacturers and are illegal for anyone else to buy, sell, or have in thier possesion. youll have to get creative for that one.
