MAN THAT SUX FOR US........ Chevy Colorado pickup. (About $18,000; unconfirmed; 30 percent.) This compact pickup never really found its niche, with less towing capacity than competitors and a cabin that wasn't quite as refined. When outfitted with a few options, it came close in price to its big brother, the Chevy Silverado—a much more rugged truck. But the Colorado is still a serviceable pickup that's great for light hauling. Its nearly identical cousin, the GMC Canyon, will also be retired around the same time as the Colorado, and has the same residual value.  READ THE WHOLE STORY....  http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_content_landing_pages/1227/the-10-best-discontinued-cars/

well you cant count the tacoma as a mid size truck anymore..and the ranger is also moving up in size...so in the near future all the new trucks will all be in the fullsize class

also most of the compacts of the last 5 years are now midsize cars...camry,accord,civic, almost every car has grown is size

the way i read that it says that its unconfirmed, so its just speculation that the are going to stop making them, but it would suck if they do quit selling them.

" I asked the analysts at car-research site KBB.com to identify models likely to be discontinued over the next couple of years. For some of these models, the manufacturers have confirmed that the car is being axed; others made the list because of strong indicators that they're being discontinued, such as manufacturing changes or declining shipments to dealers." this is why i was thinking that, either way apparently it doesn't look good for the colorado/canyon

"When outfitted with a few options, it came close in price to its big brother, the Chevy Silverado" ...well theres your problem.  if they would just lower the costs of smaller trucks they wouldnt have a problem selling them. whos gonna buy a new mini or even midsize truck when you can buy a damn fullsize for the same price?   thats like wiping your ass before you poo, it just doesnt make good sense.

Ya the cost issue is the main thing people are not buying them when you you can buy the bigger truck for just a bit more. Plus I would not consider many of the smaller trucks mini's anymore they are more midsize then anything. Also if you notice that there are not that many reg cab trucks being made anymore. People are wanting bigger cabs for more room.

I currenly have a 4 door silverado as my family vehicle. I started looking at a canyon and it was a joke. At the time(2007) a 2006 siverado LS was the same price as a loaded 2007 canyon. I know that part of this was because of the gas price was at it's peck and noone was buying silverados, but it was still and crazy situation I could not believe it. Needless to say I got the silverado and suffered for 6 month at them gas pump but now I am a very satisfied sivlerado owner and glad that I did not get the smaller truck.
