I have 2 questions. 1. i've noticed most air tanks are rated at 150psi yet most of the new style compressors are rated at 200psi? if my press switch is a 165/200 is this bad when the tank is rated for 150psi ? Also i have one viair 450 running my air system, im wanting to add a second one, but a buddy of mine has a 380 for sale cheap, its 200psi, my 450 is 150, is it ok to mix n match these comps ? Jason Missouri

My tanks and 450 compressors are both 150psi but I have a 145/175 pressure switch, been running that setup for a long time with no probs. Why not just get the 380 and run a 145/175 pressure switch for both compressors, kind of a happy medium in between, should work fine.

good call, that maybe easier solution. i was just concerned because of the diff in press ratings. i mean the 450 has been doing 200 in the tank now for 6 months no probs. I have an s10 and if you know how s10's are, they are always hard to get front end up so i like having the extra air, lol

Yeah, the 450's can do 200psi no prob but they are only warranted for 150psi use. Either way with a 175 or a 200 switch you should be fine.

I put a safety blow off valve on mine, every shop / home compressor I've ever seen has them!!And not many if any truck/car compressors!Your tank if were to rupture will be like small bomb!!

i've run 300+ psi to those 150 tanks many times. ***kids don't do this at home*** and have never had a problem I used to run 200 psi on my last time with and york 210 EDC for about 2-3years Daily with no problems.

Ive ran 200 psi for probably 5 years, most tanks have a 150psi rating because its part of the DOT rating. But the bust pressure is usually around 600-750 depending on the tank and who manufacured them.

Most tanks have a 3x safety rating meaning if theyre rated at 150 they tend to explode around 450. Parker has a 6x rating on most products but im not sure about their tanks
