just bought a 65 datsun pickup what motor swaps would work

i just got a 65 datsun truck and was wondering what motor swaps i could do? i will post pics of the truck when i pick it up.  

hah..pretty much anything you can stuff in there.  I've seen anything from rotary swaps to big blocks.... it all depends on how far you want to go.  If it were me, I'd keep it all nismo and run with something like an rb20dt or vg30, or keep it a little more oldschool and build up a an L20 or z block...you can get a ton of power out of those little enigines if built right.  I've got a z24 in my 77 with an L20b head, deltal street/strip cam, header and Webber 32/36....little thing scoots.

i think the rotaary swap is the easiest...  my buddy has a 64 320 that he is gonna do

imo i would go with the L20 keep it nismo AND old school at the same time

If you're doing a carbbed 12a swap, the rotary is easy...anything beyond that they're a pain in the ass.  And even when you get it in..the rotary isn't exactly the most reliable thing mazda ever came up with... Stick with nismo stuff...you can make good power, and you'll be much happier with the reliability and parts availability..

L20 and a 280 or 200sx 5 speed. tons of power for that little truck and easy cruising at 80 mph.

i was thinking something with a turbo. any more ideas

THERES NOT MUCH ROOM UNDER THE HOOD. MOST SWAPS YOULL BE MOVING THE FIREWALL. AND OLD Z MOTOR IS LONG AND WILL DEFINATLY BE IN THE FIREWALL.  AND L20 WOULD FIT NICELY.
